Look Out Program
Picking up children from school can be a frustrating experience. Indooroopilly may have a good loading area but it becomes congested when parents waiting for their children block the flow of traffic. To assist in reducing congestion at the Taringa Parade ‘Stop, Drop, Go’ Loading Zone, the school operates the “Look Out” program which is designed to improve the efficiency of this area.
How does the program work?
The loading zone will be supervised in the after-noon by monitors. These monitors will ensure that the Loading Zone is functioning effectively and safely by making sure that there are no unsafe practices in the loading zone area such as;
- children loading into double parked cars,
- loading into the driver side of the vehicle,
- vehicles standing for more than 2 minutes, and
- vehicles queuing over the school crossing
Parents will be able to nominate to be part of this program. If you use the Taringa Parade loading zone, you must nominate. Families who sign up for the program will be provided with a name tag that is used for display when picking up children. Families also agree to a code of behaviour. If you have not signed on to the program you will be asked to move on from the loading zone. When you drive into the loading zone the monitors will call your children from the waiting area. The monitors will allow for the first 4 vehicles to load and move on before allowing any further vehicles to load. If you child is not waiting for you when your vehicle gets to the front of the queue, you will be asked to move on and past the wombat crossing to wait in the second area of the loading zone. Families who park beyond the wombat crossing and are not part of the program will be asked to move on. If your child has not arrived after 5 minutes in the zone beyond the wombat crossing you will be asked to move on, park and walk back to the school.
