Instrumental music teachers visit our school on a weekly basis to give tuition to students in brass, woodwind and in strings. Children are withdrawn from general classes for music lessons and are taught in small groups. Places are limited and highly sought after so members should commit to remaining in the program until the end of Year 6.
Performance Uniform
Performance uniforms are required for students in Years 3 – 6. As representatives of our school, it is important that all students are correctly attired. Several options for performance uniform are acceptable:
- Unisex – new blue collared shirt, black long pants, black socks and shoes.
- Pre-existing blue button up collared shirt, black long pants, black socks and shoes.
- School uniform dress, white socks and black shoes.
Uniforms are available at the Uniform Shop on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Bands
In Year 3, students are invited to apply to participate in the School band program for Years 4 - 6.
Two bands operate in our school. During their first year of tuition students join Junior Band. As players graduate and develop expertise they join Senior Band.
Various extension groups also operate, including drum line, marching band, combination and ensemble groups.
Strings
Students from Year 2 are invited to apply for the String program for Years 3 - 6.
Three string ensembles operate in our school. During their first year of lessons, children play in the Junior String Ensemble. Players then graduate to Intermediate String Ensemble and Senior String Ensembles.
